Professional Image (Dress Code)

All Future Professionals must adhere to the following professional dress code while in attendance:

  1. All clothing must be professional, clean, non-explicit, non-revealing.
  2. Shoes also must be professional, practical, comfortable and close-toed (for safety).
  3. Hair should be styled prior to arriving at the school.
  4. Any cosmetics should be applied prior to arriving at the school.
    The following is a list of acceptable dress:
    1. Solid colors with a minimal, non-representational pattern only, will be the guideline. John Paul Mitchell Systems (Paul Mitchell) and Paul Mitchell Schools branded shirts or clothing will still be allowed. If you have questions or feel that this will be a challenge, please contact Sarah Bowman, sarahb@fresno.paulmitchell.edu.
    2. Slacks, shorts, jeans, dresses or skirts. All lengths must be no shorter than 4 inches above the knee when standing. Any rips or tears must fall below the fingertips, when standing up.
    3. Sweatshirts, printed T-shirts, hooded sweatshirts and/or jackets.
    4. Stylish scarves, and stylish head wraps, baseball caps, fedoras, flat hats, or ascot caps may be worn, but must be clean and polished.
    5. Fully opaque tights or leggings should be worn with skirts or dresses that fall shorter than 4 inches above the knees when standing.
    6. Name tag - as provided by the school. All Future Professionals are required to wear a name tag visibly while in attendance.
    7. Accessories that do not in any way interfere with movement or touch guests.

The following is a list of unacceptable dress and wearing such may be grounds for being sent home to change and return to school:

  1. Untidy or open-toed shoes.
  2. Foot thongs, beach sandals or Crocs.
  3. Tank tops, sleeveless tops, spaghetti string tops, belly shirts or other revealing attire.
  4. Sweatpants.
  5. Shorts and/or skirts that fall more than 4 inches above the knee, when standing up.
  6. Sunglasses.
  7. Sleepwear (including bonnets and slippers).
  8. Any attire/paraphernalia/symbol that displays a logo or other message promoting alcohol or controlled substances, promoting violence, illegal activity or relating to gangs may not be worn on campus.

Future Professionals who fail to comply with the Future Professional dress code may receive an advisory coaching or further disciplinary action.
